How to Troubleshoot a Norcold RV Refrigerator

Having a refrigerator in your rv is a major convenience. However, it can also cause issues if not cared for properly. Luckily, Norcold is one of the most reliable manufacturers on the market. In fact, there are RVs on the road today with Norcold fridges that were installed when they were brand new. However, it’s important to know how to troubleshoot when problems arise.

Generally, the best first step is to reset your refrigerator. This will reset the thermistor and allow the fridge to cool again. If this doesn’t solve the issue, you may need to replace the thermistor. This can be done in a few simple steps and is fairly inexpensive.

If the refrigerator is still not cooling, you may have a problem with your propane gas supply or a blocked vent. It is important to make sure that the propane gas line and fuses are functioning properly.

Another issue that can occur is if the refrigerator is overloaded or if there are food items that are not frozen properly. If this is the case, you may want to reorganize your fridge or remove any items that are not freezing.

If the power light is blinking green, this indicates that your refrigerator is trying to operate on a backup system. In this case, it will be running non-stop to try and keep your food cold. This can be a drain on your house batteries. To fix this, you will need to locate the fuses. They are usually found in a small black box, and you will need to remove the cover to access them. Ensure that the fuses are not blown, and replace any that are. norcold rv refrigerator
