All-On-4 Dental Implants
The All-on-4 procedure provides a permanent solution for teeth replacement, allowing denture wearers to enjoy the foods they love and feel confident that their new teeth will stay in place. In addition, the All-on-4 technique can also be a life-saver for patients who have been diagnosed with gum disease. The All-on-4 method uses four implants to support a fixed prosthesis of 10 to 14 artificial teeth. The implants are similar to a regular dental implant, but they have a specialized tip that can connect with a receptacle on the top of a denture.
This allows for a quicker application process, as patients can have their new teeth applied all at once instead of one implant at a time. However, a patient may experience some discomfort and tenderness during the recovery period.
During the All-on-4 procedure, a dentist will first take X-rays of the patient’s mouth and jaw to determine whether or not the patient has adequate bone density to receive the implants. Next, the dentist will remove any existing teeth on at least one arch (an upper or lower set of teeth) before placing the new implants.
After the implants are placed, a custom abutment and temporary or permanent denture will be attached to the abutments. The main benefit of All-on-4 is that it can replace a full arch of teeth all in one surgical session. Patients who have traditional dentures must wait months for each implant to heal, causing rubbing and irritation that can lead to mouth pain. all-on-4
