Paths to Quality is an Indiana rating system designed to measure and promote quality, making it easier for parents to choose a quality provider. Facilities that participate are rated as Level 1, 2, 3, or 4. Facilities at Level 1 and 2 are working toward quality through training, self-assessment, and documentation. Only facilities rated at levels 3 and above are eligible for state grants.

Childcare

The childcare sector is a vital service that helps to support families and ensures that children are able to get the care and attention that they need. A level 3 childcare qualification is a way of ensuring that those who work in this sector have the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care so it is a valuable qualification to hold.

Early learning and child care programs that meet the Keystone STARS quality standards provide children with a safe, nurturing and engaging environment in which to grow and develop. These programs also help prepare children for school and give them the best start in life.

Family Resource Centres offer a wide variety of services and resources for children and parents on PEI. Individuals who have a level 3 childcare qualification can pursue many different careers within the field of childcare. They can work in a nursery or primary school or set up their own childminding business. They can also use their qualification to go on to further study and become qualified teachers or early years practitioners.

Directors of child care centres must have at least an ECE Level 1 certification. For those who want to pursue this certification, the Saskatchewan ECE Certification Guide provides important information about eligibility and detailed application steps.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten program serves children 4 years old and older who are ready for a preschool or pre-kindergarten class based on the recommendation of their IFSP or IEP team. The children are enrolled in one of three classrooms, depending on their language development (ASL or English). Children develop social-emotional skills as they join a community of learners and explore new ways to express themselves. Teachers support the development of gross and fine motor skills through learning through play and sensory-based activities.

The curriculum supports children’s innate curiosity with STEAM teachers providing a natural setting for them to explore, solve and learn. Children spend multiple years with their teacher enabling the educator to get to know each child’s strengths and needs to best support their growth and development.

High quality early education is the foundation for future school success and lifelong learning. Our goal is to connect you with resources and help ensure that your child has access to a high-quality early learning experience. Cache level 3 and Early learning centres
