Why Choose a Men’s Bamboo Tee

Our men’s bamboo tee ticks all the boxes for a performance tee that will keep you cool and dry, even during the most intense workouts. Made from a combination of 70% bamboo and 30% cotton, the soft, silky-to-the-touch fabric is also hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial and naturally antifungal. The moisture wicking properties of bamboo viscose help to keep the skin feeling fresh and dry, preventing odours and making this tee ideal for sensitive skin. The thermoregulatory nature of bamboo means it keeps the body cool during hot weather, meaning this tee is perfect for sports, hiking and outdoor activities.

Is bamboo a sustainable material?

Bamboo has a lot going for it as a sustainable fabric, but it’s important to know how this is achieved. As a crop, bamboo requires less water than cotton (known as one of the world’s most ‘thirsty crops’) and it’s grown without any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, which has a positive impact on the environment by balancing the global warming effect of CO2. Bamboo grows much faster too, requiring less land, whilst producing more oxygen than trees, so it’s an extremely sustainable choice.

In terms of converting bamboo into a fabric, there are two ways to do this – mechanical or chemical. The mechanical way uses natural enzymes to break down the plant, creating a fibre similar to linen. The chemical method involves boiling the plant in chemicals such as sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide, which has been viewed as undermining the environmental credentials of bamboo fabrics.

Are bamboo t-shirts as comfortable as cotton tees?

Our long sleeve crew neck men’s bamboo t-shirts are as comfortable as your favourite cotton tees, but they’re 2 degrees cooler. This is because bamboo fibres have microscopic holes that allow air to pass through, which helps to regulate your body temperature. Bamboo is also incredibly absorbent, which wicks away sweat and keeps the fabric dry, reducing the need to wash your clothes often – which in turn has a positive impact on the environment too.
